A1: Do I Know How to Communicate Cross-Culturally?

Communicating cross-culturally, dealing with diversity, and managing conflict are effective strategies. By the end of this unit, you should be able to overcome common barriers to communicating aross cultures.

You do not need to understand everything about another culture to communicate successfully with a person from that culture.  Race, ethnicity, class, gender, sexual orientation, and culture influence how we see the world and how we interact with others in it. In this section, we will look at some of the ways that culture influences communication and suggest strategies for dealing with the misunderstandings and conflict that cross-cultural differences in communication sometimes create.

The next two pages in this unit are quizzes. These will test your understanding about non-verbal communication.
