B1: Do I Know How Educational Systems Differ Between Cultures?

The U.S. approach to education may be very different from the approach many newcomers are used to.

Newcomers may also be surprised by the number of non-core subjects, such as art, music, and drama, available to U.S. students. Such subjects may seem unnecessary, even frivolous, to some newcomer parents.

A common misunderstanding between newcomers and U.S. school officials is the issue of parental involvement.
